The differential is what takes the power from the engine and rotates the axle holding the rear wheels. The higher the gear ratio, the more the engine can rotate the wheels with less effort. the 3;73 gears are best for over all driving on that truck with that size tires on it,if your going to off road it some though go with a good set of 4;10,s in it,good luck. 1 decade ago. i have a 95 and stock gear ratio is 3.55 if that's what yours is id change it to 4.10 for a little extra torque for the bigger tires.
